Middle School
5th Grade – 8th Grade
The Kipling School’s middle school program cultivates a passion for deepening their content knowledge, asking and investigating real word questions and problems, and a practical application of math and science topics. Through a cross curricular approach to literacy instruction students closely read complex texts across themes, participate in academic discussions related to the content through Socratic seminars and write both in response to their reading and across genres. In math, students deepen their understanding of numeracy and number relationships, connect math to the everyday world around them and explore geometry, algebra, probability and statistics through a hands-on approach. In science, students will have the opportunity to learn about the properties of a range of materials, studying size, weight and shape. Middle school students will conduct experiments and dissections, use tools to gather and organize data and learn how to present their findings through projects, reports, graphs and presentations.
